Three dozen elected officials and scores of board and staff members from Greenville nonprofits and philanthropies gathered on Monday, January 29th to celebrate the partnerships between the nonprofit and governmental sectors.  Every municipality within the county, Greenville County, Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees, and the state House and Senate, and our federal delegation were represented by attendees of the event.

The primary purpose of the event was to simply say thank you to elected officials.  Katy Smith, Greater Good Greenville Executive Director, noted that all of the people present represent generosity, a focus on community, and the belief that when people come together to solve problems, we can do greater good. Board chair Charlie Hall (who is also CEO of Upstate Warrior Solution) and Vice Chair Derek Lewis (who is also Executive Director of Greenville First Steps and a former school board trustee) gave a special welcome as well.

As guests departed, elected officials and nonprofit and philanthropic folks alike consistently said, “This was a great event!”  We’ll do it again next year on Monday, January 27th, 5:00 – 6:30 pm, so save the date!
